Sister Foster Kitties

Echo

Leroy

Echo & Leroy are actually sisters from the same litter, on a sort of "long term loan" to us from a neighbour.

Echo got her name from her inability to speak - she simply makes a harsh whispery sound whenever she opens her mouth. Early early in the morning, she'll settle next to me on the bed and stare at me for a couple hours until I decide to wake up. And then she stares at me for the rest of the day. I think this picture is the only time she wasn't staring at me. She is also a slow-mover.

Leroy is chirpy and social. Like many cats, her owners mistook her for the opposite sex and gave her a gendered name. Whenever we have friends over, she comes out into the kitchen to join the party. She also tries to show off her ability be bipedal and how she almost has opposable thumbs. If you're really interested, she'll even somersault for you.

We love living with these two and we'll miss them when we leave.

O Captain! My Captain!

Neither a Captain nor a mandolin player, this is Corelli. She both loves and fears the camera, while she straight up fears the outdoors. This is a good thing since I can't put a leash on her. Any foreign substances placed on her back (including but not limited to scarves, dish towels and the straps of her harness/leash dealie) cause her to walk backwards in an attempt to back out of whatever "trap" she has fallen prey to. The leash is particularly heartbreaking (and comical) as she just keeps on walking backwards, changing direction when she backs into walls, thinking that eventually she'll manage to back her way out of it. Needless to say, the leash was only put on her once.

my terrorboo

i sometimes try to take madeline for walks. she is a strictly indoor cat, but i am convinced some leash time outdoors would be good for her. unfortunately, this kitty who can be such a little terror in my apartment is quite a coward outside. everything seems to frighten her. the first few times i took her out, she crouched in the grass and trembled. maybe now that it's warm out again, i'll attempt another outing. it's too bad i don't have a yard or live next to a park; i think it's mainly the traffic that scares her.

Everyone meet Elliot!

When the weather is nice, I like to take Elliot for a walk around the new little tree in our front yard. I just pick him up and walk around the tree with him. He's an indoor cat and we don't want him to be an outdoor cat, I just feel so bad when the weather is nice and he's trying to sit on our non-existent window sills to get some fresh air. I started thinking that it would be nice if we could maybe tie a really long rope to his collar and let him roam around a bit in the front if I was sitting on the steps watching him. So I tried that once, but our street is so noisy he just gets scared. Which is understandable. I get scared too.

Here is Elliot sleeping in a frying pan! (It's clean.)

Cat - a + u + e = Cute

So, like, basically cats are cute.

And then suddenly there was a blog about it.
